Morris dancers ditch 500-yr-old blackface tradition amid racism concerns

A troupe of Morris dancers ditched the 500-year-old tradition of painting their faces black and performed green-faced during their Boxing Day tour in Herefordshire. This came as Silurian Border Morrismen voted to scrap the blackface after racism concerns were raised following Black Lives Matter movement. It's believed historic English dancers used soot as a disguise to beg amid anti-begging laws.
