MP forest staff get legal cover for using firearms in self-defence

Joining a growing list of States, the Madhya Pradesh Government has extended legal protection to its forest department personnel for using firearms while discharging their duties, including in self-defence. The move is aimed at providing greater legal security to frontline forest staff who face attacks while tackling timber smuggling, poaching and other forest-related offences.
