The Madhya Pradesh government is considering offering state employees in non-essential departments up to five years leave with payment of half salary, an official said. The state is hoping to save at least ₹6,000 crore annually. According to a senior finance department official, the scheme has been devised since the state is reeling under a debt of ₹2.53 lakh crore.
