Mumbai airport to halt cargo freighters from Aug 2026 to May 2027

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will suspend dedicated freighter operations from August 2026 to May 2027, due to runway re-carpeting, a new taxiway and apron reconstruction. The airport, which handles over 55 million cargo annually, may see freight diverted to other hubs nationwide. NMIA is expected to slowly absorb traffic as it readies cargo infrastructure operations.
