A 29-year-old woman in Mumbai, who had given her passport to a private visa facilitation firm for stamping for a UK visa, received a €1234.38 (over ₹1 lakh) bill from a hotel in Ireland. Upon contacting the hotel, she was told that her passport was used for making an online reservation. She later filed a case of identity theft.
