Randall Crater, the Founder of 'My Big Coin', has been sentenced to over eight years in prison for fraud. The US justice department said Crater marketed and sold "fraudulent virtual currency" and operated an "unlicensed virtual currency exchange". He has been ordered to forfeit nearly $7.7 million. Crater apologised in court and said he never meant to defraud anyone.
