A mysterious 'hot blob' or the Northern Appalachian Anomaly, which lies over 200 km under the mountain range, was formed when Greenland separated from North America around 80 million years ago, as per a study published in Geology. Researchers stated the blob of hot rock is moving at a speed of nearly 20 km/million years towards New York City.
