Indore bagged the cleanest city of India title for the eighth time in a row, while Surat ranked second in the 10 lakh-plus population category at the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The other cleanest cities in this category included Navi Mumbai (ranked third) and Vijayawada (ranked fourth).
