Narwhals, tusked whales of the Arctic, see with sound

US-based researchers have discovered that narwhals, the tusked whales of the Arctic, use clicking sounds produced by their tooth, for getting information about their surroundings instead of straining their eyes. Capable of producing up to 1,000 clicks per second, narwhals listen to their echoes to form reconstruction of preys or rocks, based on how sound waves bounce off nearby surroundings.
