NASA's Artemis program aims to transform the Moon into a "gas station" for deep space travel. By harvesting lunar water ice for rocket fuel and utilising low gravity, the Moon could become a vital refuelling hub for Mars missions. Artemis II will soon test the deep-space systems necessary to build this permanent lunar infrastructure and a sustainable space economy.
