NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers shared the picture of rare atmospheric phenomenon known as 'sprite' she captured from International Space Station while orbiting above US and Mexico. Sprites are type of Transient Luminous Event (TLE), brief bursts of light that occur above thunderstorms. "Scientists can use these types of photos to better understand...relationship of TLE to thunderstorms," Ayers said.
