NASA astronaut shares video of 8-second sunset from space
short by Neeraja Nath / on Sunday, 28 June, 2026
NASA astronaut Don Pettit captured real-time sunset from the International Space Station. Sharing a timelapse video, Pettit wrote, "Sunsets only last about eight seconds from start to finish, but seeing 16 per day makes up for it!" Sunset moves rapidly due to the spacecraft's high speed around Earth. The ISS circles the earth every 90 minutes.
