NASA astronaut Jessica Meir shared images of the ongoing Lyrid meteor shower from the ISS, an annual event that occurs each April as Earth passes through debris from comets. As these particles enter the atmosphere, they burn up, creating bright “shooting stars”. The Lyrids are best viewed in the Northern Hemisphere and usually peak between April 21 and 22.
