NASA's Swift telescope to fall to Earth after $30 mn rescue fails

NASA has ended operations of its Swift telescope, which will fall back to Earth uncontrolled within weeks, the agency said. Its $30 million rescue by Katalyst Space was called off after the rescue spacecraft lost control of its orientation. NASA said some parts are expected to survive re-entry, but the risk of harm to anyone is unlikely.
