NASA shared a photograph of a rare cloud formation which appears like a ship carving its way through the sea. These ripples in the clouds are known as 'gravity waves'. Not to be confused with gravitational waves, gravity wave is a phenomenon of fluid dynamics resulting from displacement of a fluid, like water vapour, from a position of equilibrium.
