NASA to create "Big Bang" for Voyager 1 to extend mission life

To preserve the aging Voyager 1, NASA deactivated its Low-Energy Charged Particle instrument, leaving only two active sensors. This conservation effort precedes a 2026 "Big Bang" maneuver to redistribute power and prevent freezing. Currently 25 billion km away, the spacecraft’s plutonium source is fading, forcing engineers to prioritize survival to extend interstellar data collection.
