In Bastar, Chhattisgarh, male Maoists are forced to undergo vasectomies before marrying female comrades to prevent pregnancies, considered a liability by rebel leaders. Of 26 surrendered Maoist couples, 12 have successfully reversed the vasectomy after surrendering. Efforts are underway to rehabilitate those unable to regain fertility, with plans for child adoption.
