Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Sharingain Longkumer on Thursday won the by-poll to the Aonglenden Assembly seat in Nagaland's Mokokchung district. A total of 10,997 votes were cast and Longkumer won by 6,245 votes over Congress candidate Alem Jongshi. The by-poll was necessitated following the death of sitting NDPP MLA Imtikumzuk Longkumer last September.
