Constable Surendra Datt Nautiyal of the 15th Battalion NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) lost his life during a rescue operation in Tharali of Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on August 19. He is survived by his parents, wife, and two children, the BSF informed. Two cloudbursts, one in Tharali and another in Dewal, caused widespread damage to life and property in Chamoli.
