Nearly 3 in 10 test positive for West Nile antibodies in Keralam

A new serosurvey found that nearly 30% of people tested in areas affected by West Nile outbreaks in Keralam had antibodies against the virus, suggesting its spread may be wider than reported cases indicate. The findings also point to the state's climate, wetlands, migratory birds and abundant Culex mosquitoes as factors sustaining transmission and the need for closer surveillance.
