Nelson Mandela dies at 95

The global symbol of racial reconciliation and South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela, who guided the country from shackles of apartheid to multi-racial democracy, died at his home after a prolonged lung infection. He was 95. The Nobel Peace Prize winner emerged from 27-years in prisons to guide South Africa to bring down apartheid while avoiding a civil war.
