A team of international scientists have found new catalyst materials that could help develop lithium-air batteries. These batteries can last five times longer than the lithium-ion batteries – currently used in mobile phones. Instead of storing an oxidizer internally like lithium-ion batteries, the lithium-air batteries function by taking in oxygen from the air to initiate the chemical reactions.
