A University of Pretoria-led research found new chemical compounds that could potentially be used for killing the malaria parasite in its infectious stage. It found that chemical compounds undergoing trials for treatment of tuberculosis and cancer can kill the parasite at a stage when it normally infects others. The compounds could also help create a new line of malaria drugs.
