New coffee compounds may control blood sugar in diabetes

A study led by the Kunming Institute of Botany and the Chinese Academy of Sciences has identified three new compounds in roasted coffee beans. Published in Beverage Plant Research, it says these compounds may help control blood sugar by slowing carbohydrate breakdown. Researchers note coffee’s benefits extend beyond caffeine, suggesting a role in diabetes management.
