New cricket frog species found in Pune after over 100 years

Researchers from Savitribai Phule Pune University and the Zoological Survey of India have discovered a new species of cricket frog in the northern Western Ghats after over a century. The frog is named 'Fejervarya marathi' after the official language of Maharashtra. Notably, the last cricket frog species in Pune was found in 1915, called 'Fejervarya syhadrensis'.
