New definition of kissing wins 'spoof' Nobel Prize

Oxford biologist Matilda Brindle's team won the Ig Nobel Prize for defining kissing as friendly, same-species mouth-to-mouth contact involving lip movement and no food transfer. The definition, covering ants, birds, polar bears and primates, won the biomechanics award. Their study suggests kissing evolved 16.9-21.5 million years ago in large-ape ancestors, with Neanderthals likely kissing.
