New device claims to detect bacteria in water in 1 hr

Toronto-based startup Glacierclean has created a device which they claim can detect the presence of E. Coli bacteria in water within one hour. The system, which costs $2-3 per test, is based on a 'hydrogel matrix' which is inserted into water samples, and changes colour if the sample is infected. Traditional bacteria testing methods usually take up to 48 hours.
