Manchester University scientists discovered a new form of uranium which could have implications for current nuclear waste disposal plans. Burying radioactive waste deep underground can lead to a temporary new chemical form of uranium, which could lead to it being leaked into underground water. Notably, several global governments are planning to dispose of uranium by burying it underground.
