Scientists have discovered a previously unknown fungus in Mawsynram’s bamboo forests, identifying both a new species and a new genus. Named Parasynnemellisia khasiana, the fungus was found on decaying bamboo and later confirmed through DNA analysis. The find highlights Meghalaya’s rich but under explored fungal biodiversity.
