New insect species named after New Zealand PM; she says she's 'honoured'

A new species of a giant flightless cricket wētā has been named after New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Steven Trewick, a professor in Evolutionary Ecology at Massey University in New Zealand, named the red coloured, long-limbed insect Hemiandrus jacinda as it 'reflects traits of the Prime Minister'. Ardern's spokesperson said she was "aware of this and (was) very honoured."
