New jumping spider species found in India’s urban greenery

Scientists from Christ College and the Wildlife Institute of India have documented two new jumping spiders from Gujarat and Pune - Mogrus shushka and Mogrus pune. One is named shushka (Sanskrit for dry), reflecting its arid habitat, and the other Pune, honoring its discovery site. These findings expand our understanding of how spiders adapt to different Indian environments.
