Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said the amended Motor Vehicles Act has been implemented to create fear and respect for the law. "It isn't a revenue making proposal but a proposal to save lives. We're losing 2% GDP due to road accidents," he added. "It isn't the intention of the government to increase fines to get revenue," he further said.
