New material turns infrared into visible light
short by Swarnim Bagre / on Saturday, 11 June, 2016
Germany-based researchers have developed a compound that can convert infrared into visible light. The compound, designed of tin and sulfur in a diamond-like pattern, alters the infrared light's wavelength, producing light at wavelengths that are visible. This process, unlike the earlier ones where visible photons are thrown in random directions, gives the light in the same direction it came from.
