Researchers from IIT Bombay have developed a protocol to simulate weathering in Makrana marble by using thermal cycles. By mapping open porosity to ultrasonic wave velocity, they created a non-destructive way to assess stone damage. This study helps conservators monitor heritage sites more accurately, ensuring better long-term preservation and restoration strategies.
