New Zealand was the first nation to allow women to vote

On September 19 in 1893, New Zealand became the first self-governing country in the world to grant national voting rights to women. The Electoral Bill was the outcome of years of suffragette meetings across the country. Notably, India granted the voting rights to women as soon as it became a Republic in 1950.
