An NGO Rann India Foundation is spreading awareness about hepatitis-B in over 120 villages by organising public screenings, sessions, and immunisation camps. Surender Kumar who co-founded the NGO was himself a hepatitis-B patient and took up the initiative in order to combat superstition and stigma associated with the disease. Notably, more than 40 million Indians suffer from hepatitis-B.
