NGT orders Bengal to pay ₹3,500 crore for gap in waste management

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a penalty of ₹3,500 crore on the West Bengal government for allegedly not managing solid and liquid waste, causing harm to the environment. Continuing damage is required to be prevented in the future and past damage is to be restored, the bench said. The penalty is to be paid within two months.
