National Green Tribunal (NGT) has expressed alarm regarding alarming rate of land erosion in Sundarbans, particularly highlighting the diminishing Ghoramara Island in West Bengal. In its directive, the Tribunal has called upon authorities to devise an extensive and long-term strategy to address the issue. It emphasised temporary or makeshift solutions would not suffice in resolving the problem.
