Nikola Tesla once worked for his arch rival Thomas Edison

Born on July 10, 1856, Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla moved to the US in 1884 to work for Amercian inventor Thomas Edison. Tesla quit 'Edison Machine Works' within six months, reportedly over unpaid bonuses, and went on to develop alternating current (AC) technology which directly challenged Edison's direct current (DC). Edison later publicly electrocuted an elephant to depict AC's dangers.
