The government's PIB Fact Check handle on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday posted, "A claim is being shared on social media that the RBI will issue ₹5,000 notes." It added, "This claim is fake. No such decision has been taken by RBI." Earlier, a post including a fake image of a purported ₹5,000 note was doing rounds on social media.
