Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who presented the Union Budget 2026 on Sunday, made no changes to personal income tax rates or slabs. She also announced that the New Income Tax Act will come into effect from April 1. Notably, during last year’s Budget, Sitharaman announced zero income tax for individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually.
