The National Medical Commission (NMC) has told the Kerala High Court that private medical colleges cannot charge tuition fees beyond the 4.5-year academic phase of the MBBS course. It said the one-year internship is practical training, not classroom instruction, and colleges must refund any fees collected for the additional six months. The High Court will decide the matter.
