UP Police reacted to reports claiming that "UP government ordered a reinvestigation into 1978 Sambhal riots and directed police to submit their findings." Calling the reports "misleading", Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said, "No such development is taking place." He added that the government only sought information on the matter after an MLC requested details regarding the 1978 riots.
