The Ministry of Tourism found no private entities coming up to 'adopt' the Taj Mahal in its 'Adopt a Heritage' scheme. It announced 14 'adopted' heritage sites including Qutub Minar, Jantar Mantar, Purana Qila, and Ajanta Caves. President Ram Nath Kovind had launched this scheme so that corporates could make heritage and tourism more sustainable through conservation and development.
