The income tax rebate for individuals has been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹7 lakh under the new tax regime, FM Nirmala Sitharaman announced in Union Budget 2023-24. She announced the rebate on personal income tax for the "hardworking middle class" and said, "Those who have income up to ₹7 lakh don't have to pay tax in new tax regime."
