Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Y Combinator President Sam Altman on Saturday announced a new non-profit artificial intelligence research company OpenAI. The organization promises to make its patents royalty-free and its research results public, and aims at advancing “digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity.” It has received a funding of $1 billion so far.
