Earth's north magnetic pole is shifting by 50 km per year, forcing urgent updates to navigation models for ships and planes in the Arctic, scientists said. "It didn't move much from 1900-1980...but is accelerating now," a British Geological Survey researcher said. The pole has been moving from Canada towards Siberia due to unpredictable movements of molten iron within Earth's core.
