Visuals of a volcano erupting against the backdrop of the northern lights in Iceland have surfaced. The volcano on the Reykjanes peninsula has erupted several times this year, leading to a state of emergency being declared in southern Iceland earlier this month. The northern lights, or aurora borealis, occur during geomagnetic storms when charged particles impact the Earth's upper atmosphere.
