American cybersecurity company NortonLifeLock has agreed to buy its rival Avast, the companies said on Tuesday. Avast stockholders will receive cash and shares that value the deal at $8.1 billion to $8.6 billion. Post merger, Vincent Pilette will continue as the CEO of NortonLifeLock. About 1,000 jobs will be at risk due to overlaps in responsibility after merger, Pilette said.
