Norwegian teams set world record for longest ice hockey game

Norwegian teams Storhamar Dragons and Sparta Warriors set a world record for the longest ice hockey game after their quarter-final ended after 217 minutes and 14 seconds. The game required 8 extra periods to decide the winner following the 60-minute regulation time (three 20-minute periods). The previous record of 176 minutes and 30 seconds was set in NHL in 1936.
